Lillian M. Steen School students in kindergarten through fourth grade recently learned safety tips during the "Officer Phil" program.

The program, held Dec. 12, was sponsored by Bogota police and featured performer Dave Carr. Carr utilized magic tricks, music and a puppet to educate the approximately 200 children in attendance on stranger danger, Internet safety, how to be a good friend and bullying.

Through an interactive exchange, Carr advised the children never to talk with strangers or walk alone and to run away and tell someone if approached by one. He added that a stranger can come in all shapes, sizes, ages and genders. He further noted the children should never give their name, address or phone number to anyone on the Internet.
